The Rolling Stones started their No Filter European Tour 2018 in Dublin Ireland, at the Croke Park stadium, one of the largest stadiums in Europe. Some 70,000 fans enjoyed the Stones opening show on Thursday May 17. This is some memories and pictures from the Dublin days.

The Rolling Stones did two weeks of rehearsals in London April/May 2018. Then they moved on to Dublin Ireland during the week-end, preparing for the No Filter tour start on Thursday May 17. Fans who arrived early into Dublin could enjoy some great rehearsals at the Croke Park on Monday and Tuesday.

Thursday May 10, 2018 I am in London on the 2nd week of The Rolling Stones rehearsals in London UK. Today is a holiday in Norway so I don’t have to work all day. I finish my work 10:30am and take the tube. One hour later I am at Regents Park, my favorite in London. The beauty and the relaxing atmosphere in this park is sort of loading my batteries. You walk tired into the park, and after a short hour of beautiful birds, flowers and people enjoying the park, you are all relaxed.

I am flying into London Sunday evening April 29. It is now 18 days until the No Filter Tour start in Dublin May 17, and I have reason to believe The Rolling Stones will start their tour rehearsals in London tomorrow Monday. I have been a Stones fan since 1971, but for for the past twenty or so years I have had this obsession, or habit, of not just going to the shows, but also everything else they do like press conferences, rehearsals and so on. Every time a tour is coming up, or the Stones come together, I must go. My mind does not work properly when the Stones are playing and I am not nearby. So I arrive into London and Clapham to see what was going on.

Paris France with three shows at the brand new U Arena would be the highlight of The Rolling Stones No Filter 2017 tour. Staying at the same location for three shows and eight days would be all different from criss-crossing cities in Europe for the next show. Also, it seemed that Paris would be the Stones fans pilgrime place, there were fans coming in from all across Europe and well as the rest of the world for one or more of these three shows.
Stockholm is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, with great buildings, the “skärgård” i.e. seaside and islands everywhere. For me Stockolm is ranking along with Bergen, Prague and Paris, and if I ever had a few days available, I would go to Stockholm and just enjoy the city and the people there. Sweden is our closest neighbour, sharing lots of culture and history with us in Norway. Also, I have many friends in Sweden. I would never miss a Stones show in Sweden, that is for sure!

The show in Düsseldorf Germany is set for Monday September 9. The previous show was on Tuesday September 3 in Copenhagen Denmark. Technically this makes five days of rest, but with one day or travel each way I am left with three plus plus days of free time at home. I am tired and overworked, with several hundred e-mail in my backlog, so I need a month of rest. But the three days were a good start. I have plans for how I can get more rest in Düsseldorf.

Copenhagen is just an hour away from Oslo, by plane, with many flights every day, so going there is easy. I arrived into Copenhagen late Monday evening, the day before the show. Shows in Scandinavia is a must for me, for decades, and Copenhagen is a wonderful city. Now there is a roof above the Parken stadium, otherwise it is the same as before, a bit of a walk from the city center, where I am staying.

Amsterdam The Netherlands Saturday September 30. It is show day and I am still at home in Norway. The plan was to attend an uphill race I do every year the last Friday of September, but the tour had left me with no training for races, so here I was with a wake up at 5am early Saturday morning, to make sure I don’t miss the show in Amsterdam.

Spain has been one of my favorite countries to see The Rolling Stones in Europe for ages. The crowd reaction is always great, and when “Paint It Black” is on, you get as close as it is possible to that “Argentina feeling” at a show. They have been so many places live in Spain, including Madrid, Barcelona, Benidorm, Vigo, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Zaragosa, El Ejjido, Malaga, Santiago de Compostela, and more places, but most of the time, they would be in Barcelona, and as they did Madrid in 2014, this time Barcelona was a must…
