When I left home for the No Filter US Tour 2019 early this summer, going on the road for almost three months, one of my very closest at home said “Enjoy your other family!” Those kind words have been with me on this tour, and they are always on my mind when I get homesick. After going to Stones shows all over the world for 46 years now, I have friends and Stones “family” all over the world. I get to meet them on tour. This is the story of my “other family”. The Rolling Stones in New York City / New Jersey USA 2019
Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey is located just 20 minutes bus drive from the New York City Port Authority Bus Terminal. The Rolling Stones have been doing several shows at this location, where Giants Stadium once stood, replaced by the new 75,000 football capacity Metlife Stadium in 2010. The Rolling Stones were booked for two shows at Metlife Stadium August 1 and 5, 2019, and I was arriving into Newark Airport from Houston, to enjoy the shows, and to meet up with friends. The Rolling Stones in Philadelphia PA USA 2019
Philadelpia must be the capital of The Rolling Stones fans in USA, as I know so many fans from this city. Also, this is the city where the Liberty Bell is; the city is packed with important events and places in the history of the United States of America. Every time I visit Philadelphia, where The Rolling Stones often play, it is with respect and interest I come to this great city. Continue reading “The Rolling Stones in Philadelphia PA USA 2019”
Alexandria and Arlington VA USA Stones Tour 2019 stopover
When The Rolling Stones No Filter US Tour 2019 took me to Washington D.C. three weeks ago, for the show in Landover MD, I loved the DC area so much that I just wanted to go back. The travel logistis from Jacksonville FL into Philadelphia PA ended up with a flight into Dulles Airport, west of Washington D.C., in the state of Virginia, so then I could do a two days stopover and enjoy the area a bit more! The Rolling Stones in Jacksonville 2019
As we walked from the Jacksonville downtown area on our way to the Rolling Stones show at the TIAA Bank Field Friday evening July 19, 2019, we were passing by the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. I wonder how many of the fans knew this was the location of the now demolished Jacksonville Coliseum, where The Rolling Stones first time played live in Jacksonville May 8, 1965 – fiftyfour years ago – almost three generations in time… Continue reading “The Rolling Stones in Jacksonville 2019”
The Rolling Stones in New Orleans 2019
New Orleans has been the home to a Rolling Stones concert five times over the years, every time at the Superdome. The last time The Rolling Stones performed a show in New Orleans was in 1994, i.e. 25 years ago. Hurricanes have been preventing previous visits, and the postponed tour made the Jazz Fest appearance impossible. Then Hurricane Barry turned up, and again there were trouble, but The Rolling Stones said “We are in this together”, the show got moved forward by one day, and then New Orleans got Satisfaction on Monday July 15! Continue reading “The Rolling Stones in New Orleans 2019”
The Rolling Stones in Foxboro USA 2019
Foxboro travel day! It is Saturday July 6. After a few hours of sightseing in Boston, with my carry-on, very efficient, I was at the Back Bay station. Following detailed travel research, I was on the Franklin line, on my way to Norfolk station. There I should find a bus which would take me near Gillette Stadium, and then it should be a half an hour walt to my new hotel. Continue reading “The Rolling Stones in Foxboro USA 2019”
Boston MA USA Stones Tour 2019 stopover
Boston is a city I have been to many times, every time Rolling Stones are touring here, also for business. There were tour start in Boston 2002 and 2005, so I have been staying here with friends a lot. Many great memories from this city. That is why I could not just stay in Foxboro, which was my original plan, so I changed from four days Foxboro into two days Boston and two days Foxboro. Continue reading “Boston MA USA Stones Tour 2019 stopover”
The Rolling Stones in Washington D.C. USA 2019
Washington D.C. is an easy direct flight by United Airlines from Toronto. The show is in Landover, outside the city, so I have a hotel for three nights in Washington D.C., then one night in Landover. Public transportation is great in Washington D.C., I get a new plastic card for the city, add $20 cash to it, then I can go anywhere I like with the same card. This is card number three after three cities on this tour, I wonder how many cards I will have when the tour is over… Continue reading “The Rolling Stones in Washington D.C. USA 2019”
