From Mexico City to Havana Cuba March 2016

Havana Cuba March 18, 2016: The second Rolling Stones show in Mexico City was so great. I was pumped, and I worked with my photos and the report until 3am, slept three hours, and then woke up at 6am for breakfast, packing, leaving for Cuba. By 7am I was in the airport shuttle, and 10 minutes later we were on the airport. Interjet wanted us to be at the airport at least three hours before international departure, so I had plenty of time to work on the airport until the 11:15am departure.

The Rolling Stones live in Mexico City, Mexico March 17, 2016

The Rolling Stones show number two in Mexico City Thursday March 17, 2016 was so different from the previous show on Monday. First of all the crowd was just fantastic. Secondly the mood on stage and the smiles and great interactions were unique. Add Mick Jagger spending all his extra energy on stage, Keith tuned up to maximum, Ronnie closing his eyes belting out the most beautiful solo playing, and Charlie keeping the engine running, plus the entire band on fire, and you have a show to remember for a long long time.

Life on the road with The Rolling Stones

I left home for the Stones tour in Latin America seven weeks ago. Two more days in Mexico City, then I will be on my way to Cuba on Friday. The stay in Cuba will be a relaxing one for several reasons. Easter Holidays in Norway start on Friday, and the holiday last for eleven – 11 – days up to and including Monday March 28. I booked my nine days Cuba holiday in October last year, so this will be a real holiday, with a Stones show on Friday March 25 that is…

The Rolling Stones live in Mexico City, Mexico March 14, 2016

The first of two Rolling Stones shows of the Ole Tour 2016 in Mexico City was on Monday Mach 14. I was staying half an hour walk away, so it was easy to get to the show, in theory. For real, I had to walk for a couple of hours, because they had arranged the entrances in such a special way. Anyway, I got to the venue around 7pm, still plenty of time before the show start.

The Rolling Stones live in Bogota Colombia March 10, 2016

I had settled in here in Bogota at a hotel in the socalled Finance area, a nice area with bouquet bars and restaurants. Having a meal at 4pm, I had to stay inside, because it was a heavy thunderstorm. As I was watching the lighting strike just outside my restaurant widow panorame view, I counted half a second between the lighting strike and the thunders, which means approx 150 meters, i.e. 500 feet. Pretty close. I also understood why the sidewalks in Bogota are so elevated, the streets were flooded by water like 15 cm high i.e. half a foot, never seen anything like it before.

Bogota Colombia pt 2

Museo Botero was the first stop of my Bogotá tourist walk on Thursday March 10, the day of the Stones show. I left my hotel at noon, and in order to get more time for walking new areas, I took a taxi to the Museo Botero, some 8 km i.e. 5 miles from my hotel. Taxi is cheap in Bogotá, with typical price 10,000 peso i.e. US $3. I had a plan of walking the city in the tourist area, i.e. the cultural area as I found out, then I would just walk around and head home eventually.

The Rolling Stones live in Lima Peru March 6, 2016

It is show day and I have already printed the boarding card for my next flight to Bogota. That is the sad part of the tour. When you go to the show you are already making preparations for the next city, and for leaving the current city soon. Anyway, I was in Lima, working hard on my deadline, to leave my hotel at 1:30pm, because I had early entrance. I had to be at the venue by 3pm.

Lima Peru Pt. 2

20160304_lima_peru_bv_02

I fell in love with Lima Peru the same evening I arrived into town. How lucky I was to be staying at the Sheraton, right next to the street Jirón de la Unión. I had three different hotel bookings for Lima, did not know where to stay, but by luck I chose the area which was not Miraflores, but as I found out the most beautiful part of the city of Lima.
