When The Rolling Stones No Filter US Tour 2019 took me to Washington D.C. three weeks ago, for the show in Landover MD, I loved the DC area so much that I just wanted to go back. The travel logistis from Jacksonville FL into Philadelphia PA ended up with a flight into Dulles Airport, west of Washington D.C., in the state of Virginia, so then I could do a two days stopover and enjoy the area a bit more! As we walked from the Jacksonville downtown area on our way to the Rolling Stones show at the TIAA Bank Field Friday evening July 19, 2019, we were passing by the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. New Orleans has been the home to a Rolling Stones concert five times over the years, every time at the Superdome. The last time The Rolling Stones performed a show in New Orleans was in 1994, i.e. 25 years ago. Hurricanes have been preventing previous visits, and the postponed tour made the Jazz Fest appearance impossible. Then Hurricane Barry turned up, and again there were trouble, but The Rolling Stones said “We are in this together”, the show got moved forward by one day, and then New Orleans got Satisfaction on Monday July 15! Foxboro travel day! It is Saturday July 6. After a few hours of sightseing in Boston, with my carry-on, very efficient, I was at the Back Bay station. Following detailed travel research, I was on the Franklin line, on my way to Norfolk station. Boston is a city I have been to many times, every time Rolling Stones are touring here, also for business. There were tour start in Boston 2002 and 2005, so I have been staying here with friends a lot. Many great memories from this city. That is why I could not just stay in Foxboro, which was my original plan, so I changed from four days Foxboro into two days Boston and two days Foxboro. Washington D.C. is an easy direct flight by United Airlines from Toronto. The show is in Landover, outside the city, so I have a hotel for three nights in Washington D.C., then one night in Landover. Public transportation is great in Washington D.C., I get a new plastic card for the city, add $20 cash to it, then I can go anywhere I like with the same card. The Rolling Stones show at Burl’s Creek, Ontario, Canada, was an add-on show to the No Filter US Tour 2019, originally set to be sixteen shows. Then The Rolling Stones got an offer to play this one and only show in Canada, after the US tour was announced. So here we are, heading for a Stones show in Canada! Chicago was supposed to be the end of the No Filter US Tour 2019, but due to the rescheduling it became the opening shows. Chicago is a great city so easy to love, and with all the history of blues and previous Stones performances, I was really looking forward to the Chicago days. This is the story of nine days in Chicago, where more than 100,000 Rolling Stones fans enjoyed the two first shows of the opening of The Rolling Stones No Filter US Tour 2019.
